EXPRESSION OF INTEREST AS PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR (PI) FOR CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO UNDERTAKE MORTALITY TREND ANALYSIS STUDY IN MALAWI.
Ministry of Health have budgeted funds in the Malaria grant from Global Fund to undertake Mortality Trends Analysis (2000 to 2015) study in the country on behalf of Malawi Government No Mortality Trend analysis study has happened before in Malawi and therefore the ministry seeks to establish the baseline data for mortality from all causes in 2000 and track changes in the mortality trend that could be attributable to the interventions with financial support from Global fund and other developmental partners in the fight against HIV, Tuberculosis and Malaria
Objectives and Scope of Work
The main objective of the study is to examine the mortality situation and causes of death in Malawi using population- and hospital-based data in order to determine the impact of HIV, TB and Malaria interventions in Malawi. Specifically, the study will aim to achieve the following objectives;
- To estimate in-patient and population-based all-cause and HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria mortality rates from in Malaw
- To estimate the age-sex specific HIV, TB and Malaria mortality rates in Malawi
- To determine trends in all in-patient all-cause of HIV, TB and Malaria mortality rates in Malawi
- To triangulate the existing data and complement each source of data of information with the other
- To determine District specific maternal mortality for the same period
The Ministry of Health has budgeted resources for Principal Investigator to undertake study for Mortality Trend Analysis in line with existing laws of Malawi for a period of 9 months.
The Chairperson, Internal Procurement Committee, Ministry of Health now invites Expressions of Interest from eligible and qualified individuals for the “Provision of consultancy services to undertake Mortality Trend Analysis Implementation in Malawi” under Procurement Reference No. 031-GF-MoH-PU-15/16-C-LCS-16
Interested consulting individuals must provide information/evidence indicating that they meet the following criteria:
a) Should have at least Master’s Degree in Statistics or Public Health or Epidemiology
b) The Consultant should have extensive experience in Research Designing and Implementation of over 10 years
c) The Consultant should demonstrate prior and specialised skills in conducting similar large scale studies.
The attention of interested Consultants is drawn to the policy of the Malawi Public Procurement Act (2003) and Public Regulatas (2004) on conflict of interest
A Consultant will be selected in accordance with the Least and Cost Based Selection Procedure under Malawi Public Procurement Act (2003) and Public Regulations (2004). Submission of EOls Interested individuals are required to submit their EOls by 23rd January, 2017 at or before 14.00 hours local Malawi time.
