General overview
USAID is seeking to recruit a suitably qualified and well experienced person to work as a Communication Assistant/Social Media Coordinator on part time basis for a period of about six (6) months. The person is expected to be working for 10 to 20 hours per week.

The Communication Assistant/ Social Media Coordinator is responsible for growing USAID Malawi’s online and social media platforms working closely with the USAID/Malawi Development Outreach Communication (DOC) team as well as USAID Malawi’s implementing partners. The incumbent is responsible for crafting a cohesive online presence across multiple platforms to engage new audiences, manage and organize social media activities. Responsibilities include messaging USAID Malawi’s activities, creating new online content, and expanding USAID/Malawi’s social media following. This position will also support the Development Outreach and Communication team on various communication tasks such as speech review and success story writing.
The incumbent will demonstrate excellent written communication skills, with experience in social media in the Development sector. A minimum of one year of relevant work experience, including communications and social media experience working with USAID or international NGOS is strongly desired.

The Communication Assistant/Social Media Coordinator will be working with the Senior DOC Officer to manage and support outreach and communication efforts with specific deliverables.
